So, I have a lot of pictures from Ko’s and my trip to Oregon

… but the only ones I feel like posting from our adventure in the dunes!

I don’t know if these pictures will mean anything to you, but this was definitely the highlight of the trip, besides our friends’ wedding, of course! When I heard a few weeks ago that we’d be driving up to Portland, I insisted that we make a stop at the John Dellenback Dunes. I’d been once before with a plant ecology class, and it really made an impression on me. Maybe because we don’t have any dunes in Hawaii…

Anyway, it’s about 3-4 miles from the parking lot to the beach, with forest, dunes, and another forest in between. Because I’m out of shape, I was worried about taking a really long time, and what made it worse was that it was really cloudy, windy, and rainy for the first 30 minutes of our trek. Plus the wind would pick up sand at the top of the dunes and it really stung when it hit our legs and other exposed skin. Ouch!

Stay tuned for Parts Two and Three!
